Blizzard Just Killed Basketball in Overwatch
Interestingly, the new patch brought a nerf that went unnoticed. It was none other than the basketballs in Overwatch. Yes, you read that right – this “mini-game” didn’t escape the nerfing prowess of the studio. And for players who love shooting the balls into the hoops, it’s a dagger.

The nerf was first noticed by a Reddit user named SenpaiiiKush, who claimed that it arrived via the new update. Basically, Blizzard did some minor tweaks on the in-game physics to stop the basketballs from bouncing around the room. As a result, players can no longer put them into the basket.
According to DBLTap, some players refuse to believe that the nerf exists. They suggest it’s simply a bug carried over from the game’s Public Test Realm. It could be, though. Perhaps the game is still using the Lucioball physics from the Summer Games event. Or maybe the development team just intentionally removed it from the game.
Fortunately, there’s still a way to make these balls bounce and this is by hitting them directly above. It’s somewhat similar to how one would hit the ball in the Lucioball Arcade mode. So if players either hit or punch underneath the basketballs, there will be no effect. The same thing will happen if they hit it directly.
To simply put it, the changes Blizzard did to basketball in Overwatch made it unplayable. Players might not give a damn about it, but it’s still significant. This existed since the day the shooter title launched. Oh, well, it’s the studio’s call anway.
So, what do you think about the basketball being nerfed? Do you actually give a damn thing about it or not? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
