Unfortunately for PlayStation 4 users, PlayStation Network is down; hence they are unable to play Overwatch and Fortnite. According to official PSN Status page, the problems lie within the Game and Social core services.

The downtime is only affecting the PlayStation Network on PlayStation 4, as reported by Express. Playing offline is still doable with some titles, but as far as launching, applications, games, and features, this is impossible for now.

Interestingly, reports suggest that the number of players reporting the PSN downtime has greatly reduced. This might very well mean that things are starting to get back to normal.

Sony has yet to explain the cause of the latest outage. Apparently, this is not the first time the PSN experienced downtime this week. The company, however, issued a statement suggesting that their “engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

The PSN downtime is affecting players who are trying to play games such as Fortnite, Overwatch, and Destiny 2. Others are saying that servers have been down for a couple of hours already, with no indication from Sony when they might be online again.

Epic Games, on the other hand, has confirmed the problems affecting its title Fortnite Battle Royale. That these are mainly due to the aforementioned PSN issues.

It is worth noting that Fortnite servers have gone offline for merely 14 hours already. This left players from around the globe unable to access and play the game.

Overwatch and Destiny 2 recently received updates over the past few weeks. There were outages, too, but they all appear to be connected to the ongoing PS4 server downtime.

Fans can expect an update from Sony anytime soon. But as far as the possible timeline is concerned, this remains to be seen.
