GTA 6: Everything You Need to Know About Rockstar's Upcoming Game
There is no doubt that GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games in recent memory, and this despite the fact that developer Rockstar Games has yet to confirm it. But yes, this game is definitely coming – it is only a matter of when.
To give you a heads up, we have gathered all information pertaining to the title. From the supposed release date to new features fan can expect, here is everything you need to know about the sixth installment.
Possible Release Date
Again, Rockstar has yet to confirm a release date for GTA 6. However, it is safe to expect the title to arrive sometime in 2020. That is a hell of a time away, right? This is perhaps due to the studio being busy with Red Dead Redemption 2, which is nearly here. This should at least keep a good chunk of players occupied.
Also, you have to consider the fact that the GTA is a huge franchise. And usually, a game this big would require at least 2 years in development. That does not include the time needed for promotion, porting, and the alike. So, in a sense, you can expect Rockstar to accumulate 2 years of development and 1 year in pre-production.
The Case With GTA 5
It cannot be denied that GTA 5 is the most successful installment in the entire franchise. This goes without saying that its online version, GTA Online, is superbly massive. This is certainly the main reason why Rockstar continues to support the game and decides to keep GTA 6 at bay. The fifth game is basically their cash cow now. Why pull the plug of the game when it is bringing millions’ worth of money?
The Platforms
As expected, GTA 6 will be made available both on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. There are talks, however, that Rockstar is looking to develop and release the game in time for PlayStation 5. You could say that the studio is buying time and waiting for Sony to release its upcoming next-gen console.
Unfortunately, players cannot expect a version or port of the game on Nintendo Switch. As for PC players, it is likely for them to wait a bit longer for the PC version. This process can be likened to how the developers ported its predecessors to PC in the past.
The Biggest Gameplay Changes
It is quite possible that Rockstar will not significantly change the gameplay. Instead, they might focus on developing GTA 6 in terms of immersion and scale. And if this is the case, players can expect more detailed worlds and the biggest map they have ever developed. In fact, former Rockstar President Leslie Benzies already revealed this last year.
He was quoted saying,
You’re doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the mission in.
The Setting and First-Person Mode
There are rumors about GTA 6 being set in either London or Tokyo, though most fan theories suggest a recreation of the entire United States. In any case, the studio is set to utilize the Red Dead 2 engine – one that is capable of creating pretty impressive visuals.
As for the first-person mode, this one here is highly plausible. Add to this the inclusion of VR support. Thanks to the success of LA Noire: VR Case Files, Rockstar might just be confident in adding this technology in GTA 6.
