Similar to the previous “Xenoblade” game, “Xenoblade Chronicles 2” is set in a world that sits at the back of a colossal creature called Titan. Despite the fact that the players will spend most of their time at the surface of these enormous creatures, the new gameplay footage released in Nintendo’s stream at Gamescom gave us a glimpse at one of the few areas set inside the Titan’s body. The area, called Uraya, is a vast and atmospheric cave system filled with gorgeous trees and glistening rivers. The general aesthetic and usage of advanced lighting gives the area an ethereal atmosphere.
The video provides a deeper look in the game’s battle system. Despite the similarity to the previous titles
on the Xenoblade series, “Xenoblade Chronicles 2” is more streamlined in a few
areas. For instance, instead of accessing the Arts through a quick access
option like the previous titles, each of them is now assigned to the set of
buttons on the right side of Joy-Con. Furthermore, you can now access your
Blades in the battle through the buttons on the left. Blades are the physical
equivalents of your characters’ weapons often used in battles. You can watch
the gameplay video below.
“Xenoblade Chronicles 2” is an
upcoming role-playing game currently in the development by Monolith Soft and publisher Nintendo
for the Nintendo Switch console. The
game is a new installment to the popular Xeno franchise, and the sequel to the first game
in the series titled “Xenoblade Chronicles.”
The game is set to be an
open-world JRPG. While it’s technically a sequel to “Xenoblade Chronicles,”
the upcoming game will take place to a different world and will have a new
roster of characters. It will star the main character Rex and his friend Pyra
who are in a mission of locating the world of Elysium.
The renowned music composers of
the previous game returned to work on Xenoblade Chronicles 2's soundtrack. Mitsuda,
one of the composers, said that it was the largest project he became a part of.
“Xenoblade Chronicles 2” is scheduled to be released
worldwide in late 2017.
