The Lelux Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand is reportedly offering a special skin whitening treatment for men. Apparently, it is in the less than a conventional place – the penis. Yes, that is right – penis whitening is actually quite popular in Southeast Asia, with clients hailing from Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Myanmar, to name a few.
According to Bunthita Wattanasari, responsible for managing the hospital’s skin and laser department, they get to service roughly 100 men every month. “These days a lot of people are asking about it,” he said. Hence they have to be very careful considering “it’s a sensitive part of the body.”
As expected, news about the treatment quickly went viral especially after the clinic posted a picture of one of its client undergoing the penis whitening. In a few hours, it reached viral status on Thai TV and social media sites.
The Thai health ministry, however, condoned the aforementioned treatment and warned people tempted to try it. Aside from side effects such as extreme pain, scarring, and inflammation, patients who decide to stop the treatment will see their “thing” return to its usual, natural shade. The only catch is that there will be a couple of “nasty looking spots.”
There are also reports suggesting that the penis whitening treatment can very well harm a person’s reproductive system. This goes without saying that the effects can also hinder a positive sex life.
Surprisingly, the service is not just meant for men. As explained by the hospital’s marketing manager Pool Tansakul, they just started offering vagina whitening treatment.
He was quoted saying,
Patients started to ask about penis whitening, and so we started the treatment a month later.
The procedure immediately captured the interest of men aged 22 to 50 years old, as well as some members of the LGBT community. Wattanasiri said that the patients can get at least five sessions for $650.
