Starcraft 2: Remastered is Out Now!

Blizzard announced hours ago on their Twitter account and in the StarCraft website that the much awaited remastered version of Starcraft is now live.

According to the Wikipedia page about the game, StarCraft: Remastered is a remastered edition of the 1998 real-time strategy video game StarCraft and its expansion Brood War, which was released on August 14, 2017. It retains the gameplay of the original game, but features ultra-high-definition graphics, re-recorded audio, and Blizzard's modern online feature suite. The remaster was developed over a year and included playtesting from professional StarCraft players.

The StarCraft which featured its original 1998 graphics was released for free sometime in earlier this year, but the remastered version that's up for grabs right now costs $14.99. Not a bad price for some good old nostalgia trip, if you ask us!

Here's a comparative look of the StarCraft then and now.

The remastered version supports 4k monitors and is visibly much more detailed in terms of graphics and offers a much crisper sound compared to its predecessor. However, there has been no changes done within the gameplay mechanics. In short, no changes at all were made except for the improved visual and audio experience of the game.

This should spark a renewed interest in the gamers who loved this legendary real-time-strategy title. Everything is easier on the eyes now, not just the terrain and the structures and units across the board. Blizzard also made visual changes on the interface and made new 3d models on the faces of the characters on the HUD. They even polished the cinematic cut-scenes of the game. It may not hold up to today's graphical standards but it's definitely a refreshing take on the much more rugged version that was shown back in the day.

With the release of this well-loved title, the new generation of gamers who may not be familiar with this game or this particular genre, in general, may be drawn to this kind of game and be introduced to the challenges and the fun StarCraft has to offer.
