Australian Scientist Explains Truth Behind The Bermuda Triangle

When it comes to anything mysterious, the Bermuda Triangle is perhaps the most interesting one. Or at least, it is on top of the list. According to popular belief, any plane (hello there, Amelia Earheart!) or boat that crosses the region between Florida, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda will tend to disappear. Heck, people have even tried to conceive their own theory and/or explanation.

In a report from IFLScience, the infamous Triangle is once again making headlines. But this time around, it is about explaining why the phenomenon is nothing but a myth.

A well-known Australian science communicator by the name of Karl Kruszelnicki explained why vessels and aircrafts disappear when crossing the area. He said that it “is the same anywhere else in the world on a percentage basis.”

“It is close to the equator, near a wealthy part of the world, America, therefore you have a lot of traffic.”

Kruszelnicki iterated that the Bermuda Triangle myth started when a number of a high-profile military convoys disappeared. This happened back in the First and Second World Wars. In reality, though, the disappearance was due to terrible weather and/or that the ships were simply sturdy.

He also suggested that pilots back in the day were prone to making various mistakes. And believe it or not, the most common one was getting lost. It was either due to drinking heavily before take-off or they simply had no knowledge of their whereabouts.

But despite the cry of common people, there were no bodies nor wreckage acquired from the Bermuda Triangle. It holds true, though, that the body of water is massive and deep. And this could have been the reason why some were irretrievable.

Interestingly, people continue to put up hypotheses just to explain the “mystery” behind the region. Truth is, it is a myth. Science and further research have explained it over and over again.

The most recent one is the rumored occurrence of methane bubbles in the Bermuda Triangle. This is believed to have somehow caused the disappearance of planes and/or boats. But according to scientists, not a single evidence of methane can be obtained from the region.
